Photo Business Cards

You started out with the simplest business card you could. White card, black ink, bare essentials of information. If your business has been prospering, you may have graduated to color background, graphics and logo. But recently you saw a card you thought was outstanding – a photo card. Maybe you should get photo business cards, too. Think about these considerations.

What does your company do? Depending on what business you’re in, a prominent photo of you, smiling, is probably not the way to go. There are exceptions (actors, models, musicians). But if you are going to pay for photo business cards, they should say something about your business, either what it does (a decorated cake, a wrench, a piece of jewelry) or an impression about it (a city skyline suggests sophistication, a patriotic image looks trustworthy, etc.).

You may be able to find the right photo from the generic choices offered by Internet templates, such as a house, a hardhat, or a mousetrap. But a quality photo from your real business could be better. The nameplate on your door, the cab of your truck, the patio of your restaurant, each one tells its own story.

More than one photo is a little trickier, but it can be done. A four-panel square might show four different types of gravel you sell, or four types of make-up from your salon. Keep them simple and recognizable. “What the heck is that?” is not the reaction you want when someone looks at your photo business cards.
